Former WBO champion offers to replace Tommy Fury and fight Darren Till after ‘TNT’ withdraws from clash over head kick concerns
Darren Till's scheduled boxing match with Tommy Fury has been called off after 'TNT' withdrew from the event in a shocking turn of events on Dec. 6. The pair were set to clash on Jan. 18 in the squared circle, but Fury's decision has left Till scrambling to find a new opponent.
One man who has volunteered to replace the 25-year-old is none other than former WBO super-middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders. The Englishman has not competed since his crushing defeat to Canelo Alvarez in 2021, the first loss of his career.
But there have been rumors of Saunders' return to the ring. With 'The Gorilla' needing a new opponent, it may be the perfect time for 'Super' to regain his old self.
Following Fury's announcement that he would not be facing Till, the former UFC fighter took to X to slam 'TNT', saying:
"I've just been shown that Tommy Fury's put up a post saying that he's not fighting me because I've threatened to kick him in the head. I said I'd kick him in the head at the press conference as a mental warfare tactic, and since then I haven't said anything."

Saunders took a screenshot of Till's recent video, and took to Instagram to post:
"Make an offer, I'll step in. Old fat gypsy boy will take this over from here."

Darren Till shares disappointing update on new opponent
Darren Till appears to have been left high and dry by Tommy Fury after 'TNT' decided to withdraw from their scheduled boxing match on Jan. 18. Fury's reason for pulling out of the fight was centered around Till's statement that he would head kick his opponent if he was losing the fight.
Till joked around by posting footage of him throwing a head kick while training for the bout. But following Fury's withdrawal announcement, 'The Gorilla' was adamant that his comments were only used to promote the fight and to get into his opponent's head.
With the former UFC title challenger hoping to secure a new opponent in the coming days, he has now provided a bleak update on X. Till posted a response sent to him by what appeared to be his manager, who shared the promotion's reaction to his anonymous replacement opponent.
He wrote:
"Nobody is good enough"
