Francis Ngannou delusional about his foray into boxing: Dana White

It's no secret that Dana White isn't quite thrilled about Francis Ngannou's new PFL (Professional Fighters League) contract. While the mixed martial arts community as a whole is celebrating Ngannou's new deal, White pointed out the deal's lack of commercial viability and trashed the Cameroonian's pursuit of a boxing bout.

In what was one of the biggest developments in combat sports in recent times, Ngannou signed with the PFL to join the 'Super Fight Division', which also features Jake Paul and women's MMA star Kayla Harrison. The new contract will allow 'The Predator' to pursue boxing fights outside of the league. As part of the agreement, Ngannou will become an equity owner in PFL Africa and also join the PFL Global Advisory Board.

Francis Ngannou's PFL deal includes:

• High 7-figure per fight guarantee
• $2M guarantee for his opponents
• A share of each event's net profits
• Freedom to box & sign sponsors
• Equity in the PFL & Chairman of PFL Africa

Safe to say leaving the UFC was the right move. https://t.co/E8AdCcAfL0

By now, it's common knowledge that Ngannou wanted a provision in his contract that would allow him to pursue boxing matches, as he wants to challenge the likes of Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. Dana White has made it public that he is not a huge fan of cross-promotional fights or UFC fighters venturing into boxing. However, he did make an exception for Conor McGregor's blockbuster fight against Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.

With all that in mind, White spoke in length about Francis Ngannou's new deal with the PFL at the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight press conference. He claimed that the former UFC heavyweight champion is delusional about his foray into boxing:

"PFL's going to pay this guy [Ngannou] to train for a boxing match that may not even happen and that they might not even be involved in. How does that make any sense. Anthony Joshua called it a gimmick fight this week."

He added:

"Francis could have done a deal here. Hunter [Campbell] threw the kitchen sink at that guy... Francis just thinks that he's in a position where he's got some Conor McGregor/Mayweather fight on his hands, which he does not.MMA guys versus boxers doesn't make any sense to me, but I know that he thinks there's all this money in it, I disagree."

Francis Ngannou boxing: Tyson Fury fires fresh shots at 'The Predator'

Heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has been a busy man on social media. From blasting UFC color commentator Joe Rogan for his comments that Jon Jones would destroy Fury in a real fight, to giving his promoter an ultimatum to book a fight soon, 'The Gypsy King' spared no one in his profanity-laced Twitter spree.

Fury and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou have been sparring verbally for a long time about a possible boxing match. While there have been no signs of the fight happening soon, Fury recently lashed out at 'The Predator,' demanding the Cameroonian to sign the dotted line for a potential clash:

“Francis Ngannou, you big mush. I’m your daddy.... I’m the daddy. I’m the baddest man on the planet, and I’ll give you the best time you ever had, you big dosser. Sign the contract you big stiff idiot.”
