FREE FULL FIGHT: Aung La N Sang uncorks massive power in brutal KO of Leandro Ataides in Singapore
When former two-division MMA world champion Aung La N Sang lost his two 26-pound golden belts to Reinier de Ridder in back-to-back championship bouts, he needed someone to vent out all his frustration.
Unfortunately, it was Leandro Ataides who was on the receiving end of this, as he fought Aung La in a catchweight MMA clash at ONE: Battleground in July 2021 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The full fight replay of this matchup was reposted by the promotion on their YouTube channel with the description:
"Before Myanmar icon Aung La N Sang throws down in a middleweight MMA contest with Turkish sensation Shamil Erdogan at ONE 168: Denver on September 6, look back at his jaw-dropping action against Brazilian powerhouse Leandro Ataides at ONE: BATTLEGROUND in 2021!"
Both Aung La and Ataides immediately swung for the fences and fired powerful strikes against each other in the opening phase of the match. The 'Wolf' tried to rip off a page from de Ridder's winning approach by taking down 'The Burmese Python' to the ground.
Ataides controlled Aung La for over a minute before the referee pulled them out of the position and back on their feet. This grappling-heavy strategy backed fire on Ataides as he was visibly gassed out after that sequence.
Myanmar's icon capitalized on it and marched forward with immense pressure until he landed a beautiful combination of punches to knock Ataides out in the first round.
Aung La N Sang is confident that he can go toe-to-toe with Shamil Erdogan until the final bell
The Kill Cliff FC athlete is now on the verge of facing undefeated Turkish phenom Shamil Erdogan in a middleweight MMA battle on Sept. 6 at ONE 168: Denver, which will take place at the Ball Arena in Colorado.
Ahead of that match, Aung La spoke about his physical conditioning and readiness to go to war against Erdogan in a recent video he posted on his YouTube channel, as he confidently said:
"When I go in there and fight, I know that my strength, my condition will be there. This will help me stay sharp. Even in the last round, I can knock him out. I can keep fighting and keep scrambling."
ONE 168: Denver will air live from the Ball Arena during U.S. primetime on Sept. 6. Tickets for the event are available on Ticketmaster.
