FREE FULL FIGHT: Rodtang unleashes his underrated technical work in clinical KO of Edgar Tabares in Denver
Reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon left a lasting impression on American fans after he scored a second-round knockout against Mexican contender Edgar Tabares in their world championship clash in May 2023 at ONE Fight Night 10.
It was Rodtang's debut on American soil, and he made sure to put up an incredible show for fans. ONE Championship recently posted the full fight replay of his bout with Tabares on their YouTube channel, and the video's description read:
"An insane knockout closed out the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title tilt between reigning World Champion Rodtang and Mexican striking star Edgar Tabares in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 10 - proudly presented by @TumiTravel!"
'The Iron Man' has changed his approach in this match and went away with his crazy pressure. Instead, he showed his technical skills and adjusted his fight plan accordingly.
In the opening round, the former WBC Muay Thai champion landed a beautiful spinning elbow strike that caught the defending flyweight Muay Thai world champion off guard.
But in the second frame, when Tabares attempted the same strike, the Jitmuangnon Gym representative blocked it off and countered with his signature thunderous left elbow to put him away for good.
The win not only made his world title defense successful but also secured him an additional performance bonus from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
Jacob Smith says that he plans to take the gold out of Rodtang in their rematch at ONE 169
On Nov. 8, Rodtang is scheduled to meet the No. 3-rated divisional contender Jacob Smith in a highly anticipated world championship rematch in the co-headliner of ONE 169, which emanates from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ahead of that clash, the British superstar has revealed that he will do everything in his power to avenge his previous loss to the Thai striking sensation and take home the coveted belt, as he revealed during a recent interview with Sportskeeda MMA:
"I'm coming to do as much damage as I can and to be as dominant as I possibly can and take that gold from him."
