FREE FULL FIGHT: Tawanchai arrives at the world stage in iconic ONE Championship debut against Sean Clancy
Before Tawanchai puts his featherweight Muay Thai crown on the line against Jo Nattawut in a thrilling rematch at ONE 167, you must watch his clinical debut against Irish slugger Sean Clancy.
At the time of this fight, Tawanchai was a bit of a mystery to the outside world. He was known in Thailand as a promising Muay Thai striker because of his proven ability to entertain the fans at the Lumpinee level, but it was mostly just word of mouth.
Whereas, 'Clubber' Sean Clancy, had more authority in the Muay Thai world. He had amassed a number of 60 bouts before winning the WBC Muay Thai World Championship in 2019.
So no one could've predicted that Tawanchai would completely annihilate any chance Sean Clancy had of becoming a big superstar in ONE Championship.
Watch Tawanchai make a worldwide statement on the ONE stage with the coldest KO of the century below:
On June 7, Tawanchai is expected to take it up a notch in his next world title defense at ONE 167.
His rival, Jo Nattawut, was a real problem for the champ in their first meeting back in October, so Tawanchai is not leaving any stone unturned as he prepares for another barnbuner of a match this year.
"I received quite a bit of criticism from that fight" - Tawanchai is eager to silence his critics with a definitive victory over Jo Nattawut
Tawanchai received a lot of criticism after he won by unanimous decision against Jo Nattawut in their first kickboxing match at ONE Fight Night 15.
Tawanchai was originally scheduled to defend his Muay Thai crown against Superbon, but his rival withdrew on short notice due to an unforeseen injury. Jo Nattawut took his place in the titular main event to fight under the kickboxing rules.
The two superstars fought their hearts out that night, despite the lineup change, to give the fans an entertaining bout, and that's exactly what they got.
Nattawut proved to be a stronger foe than predicted, and although it seemed like he showed the most aggression, Tawanchai won the bout in accordance with the ruleset.
However, some critics didn't feel that way. They made their discontent known online, and even though Tawanchai took it with grace, he continued to harbor deep resentment against them.
Speaking to ONE, Tawanchai said:
"I was happy when I knew that I would be defending my Muay Thai belt against Jo because it would seal the lips of critics from our first fight. I received quite a bit of criticism from that fight."
