FREE FULL FIGHT: Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao creates ONE Championship history in beatdown of Sergio Wielzen
After spearheading the first-ever Muay Thai match in ONE Championship history during his promotional debut in Jan. 2018 at ONE: Global Superstars against Joseph Lasiri, Thai icon Sam-A Gaiyanghadao has reached another milestone in May 2018.
Sam-A became the inaugural ONE flyweight world champion after beating Sergio Wielzen inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The full fight replay of this ground-breaking match was published on YouTube by the world's largest martial arts organization.
They captioned the video, writing:
"Muay Thai legend Sam-A made history when he captured the inaugural ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title against Sergio Wielzen in 2018! Don't miss Sam-A's return to Lumpinee Stadium at ONE Friday Fights 9!"
The immense and constant pressure of Sam-A was too much to handle for the 'Samurai' to handle for a full five rounds.
Paired with crisp and powerful combinations, the Evolve MMA representative chopped down Wielzen like a tree until he crumbled in the fourth round for the victory.
Sam-A finished the championship clash with two thunderous elbow strikes that prevented the Sityodtong Amsterdam from continuing.
Sam-A scheduled to face former world title contender Zhang Peimian at ONE 169
Fresh off his age-defying performance against Akram Hamidi last month at ONE Friday Fights 81 with a first-round knockout victory, Sam-A makes a quick turnaround and is pitted against former ONE strawweight kickboxing world title challenger Zhang Peimian on Nov. 8 as part of the stacked ONE 169 card.
The Thai veteran and 'The Fighting Rooster' are set to light up the legendary ring of the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, in a pivotal match that could determine the next challenger for the division's vacant 26-pound golden belt.
North American viewers with an active Prime Video subscription can watch all the action at ONE 169 on Nov. 8.
