"From one gangster to another" - Chael Sonnen shares hilarious reaction to Oban Elliott's UFC 304 post-fight interview
Chael Sonnen was thoroughly impressed by Oban Elliott's electrifying post-fight speech at UFC 304, which was awfully reminiscent of his own fighting days.
For context, after his win over Preston Parson at the Co-op Live in Machester, 'The Welsh Gangster' took the microphone to deliver a few lines which went like this:
"Whether I showed it [my best performance] or not, like a true gangster [I'm] undefeated and undisputed in the UFC and that's all that matters."
While Sonnen was far from undefeated in the UFC, 'The American Gangster' often referred to himself as such during his career. The quip caught on with fight fans and the West Linn Oregon native's undefeated status has since become somewhat of a humorously accepted MMA fallacy.
During a recent episode of the Good Guy / Bad Guy podcast, the former three-time UFC title challenger reacted to the Welshman's adrenaline-pumping post-fight speech saying:
"From one gangster to another, salute that was beautiful."

Elliott (11-0) is a 2023 Dana White's Contender Series breakout star and has registered two wins in the UFC so far. He is undefeated since 2022 and is currently on a seven-fight win streak.
Before his UFC days, he fought under Cage Warriors where he competed as a lightweight and welterweight.

Chael Sonnen believes fan favorite fighter will return despite recent fight cancellation
While Nick Diaz's Abu Dhabi clash against Vicente Luque has been scrapped, Chael Sonnen doesn't believe this is the end of the Stockton native's UFC story.
While there are uncertainties surrounding why the bout was scrapped, the 47-year-old is convinced that the promotion will rebook the fight for a later date. Talking to Daniel Cormier during a recent Good Guy / Bad Guy segment, Sonnen said:
"We haven't been totally clear on why it was canceled... If it was geographical, if it was a visa issue and I know there are a couple of rumors out there like that and I think that's a little closer to accurate than not, it would just seem like you would just take that fight and rebook it somewhere else... But no, I'm not ready to say that it's over. I do believe Nick will get that opportunity and it'll probably be against Luque."
