"Fu*k around and find out" – Jake Shields reflects on training Javid Basharat to dominate Israeli UFC opponent who called him 'dirty terrorist'
Jake Shields recently expressed his pride about the three-year-old victory of his Afghan trainee, Javid Basharat, over his Israeli rival in the 2021 edition of Dana White's Contender Series. Basharat's victory boosted Shields' pride even more since his rival had laid out a scathing diss at him during the build-up to their fight.
Shields has a reputation for speaking out about various societal and international problems. He has also been a staunch supporter of the oppressed Palestinians in their dreaded conflict with Israel, that began on Oct. 7, 2023. He was gutted by the Islamophobic comment made by his trainee's Israeli rival during their pre-fight face-off.
Shields' trainee, Basharat, was pitted against the Israeli fighter, Oron Kahlon, for the final of the 2021 edition of Dana White's Contender Series. Despite Basharat's respectful attitude towards his rival, Kahlon refused to shake his hand during their pre-fight face-off. Moreover, Shields also highlighted that the Israeli labeled his Afghani disciple a "dirty terrorist" during the same.
But Basharat proved his point where it mattered the most. He beat up Kahlon throughout the fight before finishing him with a guillotine choke. Shields tweet showcased that he takes pride in Basharat's victory to this day. He also urged his disciples to carry on fighting and find out more about the attitude of his rivals. His tweet read:
"I trained Javid for this fight. The Israeli called Javid dirty terrorists [a dirty terrorist] and wouldn't shake his hand at the weigh-in. Javid beat the Israeli senseless and committed a pogrom. F*ck around and find out @JavidBasharat"
Jake Shields wasn't impressed by Theo Von's take on left-wing media
Jake Shields doesn't shy away from being clear about his take on various issues. The 45-year-old recently mocked Theo Von for his take on left-wing media during the latter's appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE).
Amidst several other discussions during the episode, Von and Rogan also talked about how the media functions. This is when Rogan's guest expressed a bold opinion about the left-wing leaning media. Von said:
"I don't understand why the left-wing leaning media, which is mostly Jewish, is calling people white supremacists?... Why do they hate white guys?"
Shields expressed his discontent with Von's opinion with a tweet that read:
"Theo Von has been doing a little to [too] much noticing lately."
