"Full of thrills every second" - Rodtang believes Superlek-Jonathan Haggerty war at ONE 168 will be downright epic
ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is confident the hotly anticipated showdown between Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Jonathan Haggerty will live up to its billing on Sept. 6.
Weighing in on the five-round scrap, Rodtang had this to say in an interview with ONE Championship recently:
"I'm confident that we're going to see an exciting fight, full of thrills every second. I'm looking forward to watching this fight."
The Muay Thai titans square off in the main event of ONE 168: Denver inside Ball Arena in a rematch that has been almost six years in the making.
In Oct. 2018, 'The Kicking Machine' handed the Englishman the second defeat of his career via a TKO due to a doctor stoppage at the end of round two. With the blueprint to defeat the Knowlesy Academy and Team Underground superstar, Superlek will fancy his chances to claim his foe's ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title and secure two-sport world championship status.
As for Haggerty, the two-sport world champion is looking at his best as he closes in on fight night. With redemption on his mind and an eagerness to prove why he's a modern-day legend, 'The General' should dish out another career-defining performance in Denver, Colorado.
North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire ONE 168: Denver card live and free in U.S. primetime this Friday, Sept. 6.
Meanwhile, tickets to experience the spectacle live in person can be purchased here.
Rodtang defends his gold against Jacob Smith at ONE 169: Atlanta
In slightly over two months, Rodtang puts his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title on the line against Jacob Smith in a redo at ONE 169: Atlanta on Nov. 8.
'The Iron Man' welcomed the hard-hitting British striker to the global stage in May 2022, delivering a classic performance en route to a comfortable unanimous decision triumph. Since then, the Jitmuangnon Gym star has won four of his past five — his only defeat coming to Superlek last year.
Meanwhile, Smith has gained some much-needed experience following his debut defeat to Rodtang in their ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix Championship quarterfinal fixture.
The Liverpool native has shared the Circle in a pair of classic brawls with Denis Puric and Walter Goncalves.
