Georges St-Pierre teaches Paddy Pimblett to deal with criticism about his “robbery” win against Jared Gordon

UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre has advised Paddy Pimblett on dealing with criticism about his recent performance.

Pimblett secured a controversial unanimous decision victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 in December 2022. Many believe Gordon was more deserving of the judges’ nod in their closely-contested lightweight bout. In the latest edition of the Chattin Pony podcast hosted by Paddy Pimblett, the UFC lightweight spoke to Georges ‘Rush’ St-Pierre.

‘The Baddy’ notably asked for Georges St-Pierre’s advice on how to handle the criticism in regards to his "robbery" win over Jared Gordon. The MMA legend responded by advising Pimblett to ignore his detractors’ comments.

St-Pierre referenced his own razor-thin split decision win over Johny Hendricks in their UFC welterweight title fight that transpired at UFC 167 in November 2013. ‘GSP’ stated:

“All the great fighters had fights that people would say they’ve lost. When I fought [Johny] Hendricks, some people thought Hendricks beat me. It happens to everybody. When I had some performances that I was not too proud of, I take a note of all the things that I did before the fight, and I try to make an assessment of what I should have done differently. And I try to not repeat the same mistake.”

The former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion further explained:

“If you think you won the fight, it doesn’t matter what the other people think. There’s always some haters that are gonna try to put you down. And you cannot let that get into your head.”

Furthermore, ‘GSP’ indicated that if Paddy Pimblett feels he’s not happy with his performance, he could call Jared Gordon out for a rematch. ‘The Baddy’ seemingly agreed and insinuated that he could face Gordon again.
