ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion Danielle Kelly has become one of the promotion's biggest stars in recent years. However, some fans might not know much about the American star's life outside of the Circle.
As she gets ready to defend her throne against Mayssa Bastos at ONE Fight Night 24 on Friday, August 2, ONE Championship shared some little-known facts about Kelly on Instagram with the following caption:
"How well do you know Danielle Kelly? 🤔Catch her first ONE Atomweight Submission Grappling World Title defense against Mayssa Bastos go down THIS FRIDAY at ONE Fight Night 24 on @primevideo 👑 @daniellekellybjj"
Last September 2023, the 28-year-old dominated former foe Jessa Khan for the inaugural ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship via unanimous decision to earn her third win in ONE.
Kelly will now look to extend her winning streak to four by successfully defending her 26 pounds of atomweight submission grappling gold against Bastos inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Danielle Kelly gives Mayssa Bastos her flowers
Mayssa Bastos is one of the most decorated BJJ athletes on the ONE Championship roster and Danielle Kelly respects her accomplishments in the sport.
Kelly said in a recent interview:
"Fighting Mayssa Bastos coming up, she's definitely, I mean I fought a lot of tough opponents, but I would say probably at this weight class she's the number one. She's beaten a lot of girls, she's pretty well-known."
In the same interview, Kelly opened up on her game plan against the nine-time BJJ world champion:
"I'll go in there and try not to focus on like what she's accomplished, and this is the first time we're competing against each other."
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
