Gilbert Burns reveals he is moving on from Jorge Masvidal after agreeing to fight thrice, confirms he will fight in Brazil – "Give me anyone, I don't care"
Gilbert Burns has not fought since losing by unanimous decision to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273. The No.5-ranked welterweight had been targeting a fight against Jorge Masvidal for quite some time now. However, he recently revealed he has moved on from that potential matchup.
Speaking to MMA Underground, Burns claimed that Masvidal turned down the opportunity to fight him thrice- at UFC 281, UFC 282, and UFC 283:
"It's frustrating, especially [given] who he is, the BMF champion- don't want to take the fight. Just be honest about it if you don't want to fight right now. Don't keep saying my name and dragging me around."
Burns noted that he has moved on from Masvidal:
"I was done with that [Masvidal fight] a long time ago. I already said to the UFC, give me anyone; I don't care. The answer that I had was, 'We want to make you and Masvidal, and we're going to make it happen.' I'm fighting in Brazil, one hundred percent."
Burns' inactivity has allowed him to slip down the rankings. However, he seems determined to return to the octagon at UFC 283 in Brazil. Burns noted that he is willing to fight any ranked welterweight.

Gilbert Burns has been very vocal about a potential fight with Jorge Masvidal. The No.5-ranked welterweight recently took to Twitter to call out Masvidal for turning down fights:
"Just letting everyone know that @ufc offered me @GamebredFighter 3x. First time was for Nov 12. He said he needs more time, second time for Dec 10, he said he was going to [Brazil] to fight me and now he just said no again! So I guess the B from his BMF belt doesn’t stand for bad."
'Durinho' has been targeting a fight with Jorge Masvidal for several months. However, nothing has come to fruition. Masvidal is yet to acknowledge Burns' claims that he has turned down three fights.
