"Go home and load all my guns" - JD Vance opens up to Joe Rogan about his shock and nervous response over assassination attempt on Donald Trump

The Joe Rogan Experience has continued its run of political guests, recently welcoming Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance on episode #2221. During his appearance, the topic of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, came up.

As Vance spoke to Rogan, he detailed the various feelings he experienced when witnessing the attempt on Trump's life. Vance's initial reaction was one of horror, as he feared that Trump had actually been killed. This prompted him to take the immediate action to arm himself.

"My initial reaction was I actually thought they had killed him because when you first see the video, he grabs his ear and then he goes down. And I'm like, 'Oh my God. They just killed him.' And I was so pissed, but then I go into fight or flight mode with my kids. I'm like, 'Alright kids.' We were at a mini-golf place in Cincinnati, Ohio. I grab my kids up, I throw them in the car, go home and load all my guns, and basically stand like a sentry in our front door."

Fortunately for Trump, he survived the assassination attempt with minor injuries. The immediate aftermath of the incident drew tremendous attention to the divisive nature of American political discourse, and Trump's survival became a rallying point for Republicans, especially in the combat sports sphere.

UFC CEO Dana White was full of praise for the former United States president, with whom he has an age-old friendship. Rogan himself later welcomed Trump to his podcast on a recent episode, #2219, which has since become the second-most viewed episode in JRE history.

Joe Rogan previously praised Donald Trump's response to his assassination attempt

Joe Rogan's relationship with Donald Trump wasn't always positive, especially following the UFC commentator's praise of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. However, he did praise the former United States president's reaction to his assassination attempt.

On X, Rogan penned a statement, part of which said the following:

"I also think Trump raising his fist and saying "fight!" after getting shot is one of the most American f*cking things of all time."

The tweet was made largely in response to the backlash he received for praising Kennedy, which many mistook as an endorsement for him as president due to Rogan's phrasing.
