“Going to come in strong” - Fabricio Andrade vows to unleash his perfect form against Kwon Won Il in world title banger at ONE 170
Fabricio Andrade is ready to be at his best possible shape when he defends his throne against a familiar foe.
The reigning ONE bantamweight MMA world champion will put his gold on the line against Kwon Won Il at ONE 170 on Jan. 24, 2025, at Impact Arena.
Andrade has been deep into his training camp at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand, and he promised to unleash high hell when he squares off against Kwon for the second time in Bangkok.
Taking to Instagram, Fabricio Andrade wrote:
"Work in full swing for the upcoming title defense, we're going to come in strong #andSTILL"
Andrade was out of 2024 due to multiple lingering injuries that he sustained from a bittersweet 2023 campaign that saw him fall short in his bid for two-sport supremacy.
'Wonder Boy' captured the vacant ONE bantamweight MMA world title when he stopped former holder John Lineker in the fourth round of their bloody matchup at ONE Fight Night 7.
He then faced off against then-ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title but fell short against the British superstar at ONE Fight Night 16.
Now that he's back in full form, Andrade looks forward to taking another win against his former opponent.
Andrade previously met Kwon at ONE 158 where he knocked out the South Korean striker in the opening round of their Singapore duel.
Fabricio Andrade says he wants a longer match against Kwon Won Il at ONE 170
Their first match ended in almost a flash, but Fabricio Andrade wants his world title defense against Kwon Won Il to go a tad bit longer.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Andrade said he wants to punish Kwon for longer than the first five minutes of the match.
Andrade added that he wants to stay longer inside the Circle after missing the entire 2024 due to multiple lingering injuries.
"To be honest, I’m not specifically looking for the [early] KO, you know. I need more time inside the circle as well," said Andrade.
