"Gonna be an instant classic" - Fans expecting an all-out barnburner between Takeru Segawa and Thant Zin in Bangkok

Former ONE flyweight kickboxing world title challenger Takeru Segawa will make his highly anticipated return to action after receiving a unanimous decision loss courtesy of Superlek Kiatmoo9 in January 2024 at ONE 165.

Takeru is scheduled to face Thant Zin in a flyweight kickboxing scrap on Sept. 27 as part of the ONE Friday Fights 81 pay-per-view card, which goes down at Asia primetime inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ahead of that clash, the world's largest martial arts organization teased fans about what to expect from the Japanese superstar as they posted a clip of his preparation on Instagram.

They wrote the video's caption with:

"Fast as LIGHTNING ⚡️ Will Takeru score his first win in ONE on September 27 when he collides with Thant Zin at ONE Friday Fights 81? 👊 @k1takeru"

In the video, Takeru hits the pads and sharpens his boxing skills with power and precision. Fans expect him to give a great performance against the 19-year-old rising star from Myanmar.

Users @sivasivashambho, @kento_no_account_, and @itsmrmemelord_j have already forecasted an all-out war between the two and, at the same time, gave Takeru high praise, as they commented:

Takeru Segawa badly wants to win against Thant Zin, says he can't lose two fights in a row

Before facing Thant Zin, Takeru caught up with ONE Championship for a recent interview, in which he discussed the importance of bouncing back and winning against the Taw Win Ayeyar Club athlete.

The Team Vasileus representative explained that he can't lose two consecutive fights and said:

"I joined ONE to aim for being the strongest in the world, so I really want this win. To fight at the top, I absolutely can't lose two in a row after losing the last one."

ONE Friday Fights 81 will air live on pay-per-view at watch.onefc.com.
