Gordon Ryan fires shots at Tye Ruotolo after grueling match with Jozef Chen

Gordon Ryan has taken aim at fellow submission grappling superstar Tye Ruotolo following his recent match against Jozef Chen at ONE Fight Night 23. Ruotolo, one of the most promising talents in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu community, had previously shared an interest in facing Ryan in a no-gi match.

But his recent performance against Chen did not impress 'The King' at all, who scoffed at the Hawaiian's keenness to face off on the tatami. He appeared amused by Ruotolo's challenging match with Chen, who in his own right is another supreme talent at just 19 years old.

Following their clash on June 5, which saw Ruotolo win via decision, the world's best no-gi grappler took to Instagram and posted this on his story:

"Tye - I'll kill Gordon... Also Tye - has a war with a 77kg brown belt"

With Ryan having shared several statements in the past hinting at his use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), Ruotolo is eager to prove that the "natural way" is superior.

Both Tye, and his brother Kade, are vocal about the state of steroid use in BJJ, and how proud they are to represent natural athletes.

Gordon Ryan says he is battling health issues ahead of ADCC 2024

Gordon Ryan is currently preparing for the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) World Championships 2024, which take place on Aug. 17-18.

However, the most decorated ADCC competitor of all-time recently disclosed the health issues he is battling ahead of the world's most prestigious no-gi grappling event.

Having been forced to retire from BJJ on two separate occasions in the past due to stomach issues, 'The King' announced in 2023 that he would not be competing until ADCC 2024 to help fully recover from his ailments.

Ahead of this year's edition of the tournament, where he will face both Felipe Pena and Yuri Simoes, the 28-year old shared an update on his health, saying this:

"I'm having a tough time right now. If I could say anything to Felipe right now, if you beat me I'm going to blame it on my stomach issues. But you better not make an excuse if I beat you."
