"Gotta do a better job than Adalaide Byrd"- Michael Bisping examines the role of AI in combat sports judging and potential to fix bad scoring
Michael Bisping offered his opinion on the role of AI judging in combat sports during the live streaming of his YouTube channel. The former UFC middleweight champion compared AI's efficiency to one of the judges who judged the recently held showdown between Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov.
Bisping highlighted the significance of AI in reducing human error while rating fights. The 45-year-old also mentioned Adalaide Byrd, who was at the receiving end of criticism for her recent evaluation of Gane vs. Volkov at UFC 310 by scoring in favor of 'Bon Gamin'.
Responding to a question on his YouTube regarding the same, Bisping said:
"AI is doing great things and if it means that people are gonna get robbed in a boxing fight or an MMA fight or whatever the case, you know gotta do a better job than Adalaide Byrd. There's been some crazy judging, so i'd rather give it to a robot, why not, if they can do a better job."

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk's showdown on Dec. 21 will have an AI judge at the ringside. This is the first time a robot will score the fight as a judge. However, its scores won't have any impact on the outcome of the fight. It will only serve as a comparison between the actual judges and the AI.
When Michael Bisping came under severe criticism at the hands of Ariel Helwani
MMA journalist Ariel Helwani went off against Michael Bisping after the latter discredited him for his work. Helwani was among the first people to report that the proposed bout between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler at UFC 303 was on the verge of getting canceled or postponed. Thereafter, he became a target of Bisping's criticism who questioned his journalistic ethics.
In response to the UFC Hall of Famer's comments, Helwani addressed his criticism on The MMA Hour by saying:
I'll never tell Michael Bisping how to throw a left hook same way I don't wanna hear from him on what it means to be a journalist, everything he said there was asinine, ridiculous, he has no idea what it means to be a journalist."
