Gregory Rodrigues names former UFC champion as his biggest inspiration: "He was a pioneer"
Gregory Rodrigues recently opened up about the impact of Brazilian fighters in MMA and named which fighter inspired him the most. He named a former UFC champion and highlighted ways in which he impacted his career.
'Robocop' has showcased plenty of potential since joining the UFC in 2021 following his successful stint in LFA. He is currently riding an impressive three-fight winning streak and could insert his name into the rankings with another win.
During his appearance on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's JAXXON PODCAST, the 32-year-old was asked about his favorite Brazilian fighter of all time. Rodrigues named former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort, saying:
"Vitor Belfort, for sure...He was a pioneer, opened the way for not just for the Brazilians, for so many fighters. He inspired me [so] much, he inspired me a lot. All his knowledge [he] shared with me. I love all the Brazilian fighters, Anderson Silva for sure. But for me, I'm going to Vitor Belfort."

Gregory Rodrigues opens up about cornering Vitor Belfort and training with him
Gregory Rodrigues holds Vitor Belfort in high regard and opened up about his experience around the UFC legend and training with him.
During the aforementioned appearance, Rodrigues disclosed that he recently had a full circle moment as he cornered Belfort at UFC 204 in Manchester and had the former light heavyweight champion helping him wi his training camp ahead of UFC 304, which was also in Manchester. He said:
"I cornered [Belfort] him...in Manchester...UFC 204. I went there this year, UFC 304 in Manchester. It was crazy...He helped me in the training camp...That was very nice, because he brought me there and [I] felt the experience when it was with him. That was crazy because it was the first time I was cornering someone in the UFC and to corner Vitor Belfort, man, that was big for me."
