Has Jake Paul retired from influencer boxing? Most Valuable Promotions' issues statement naming the next best star
Jake Paul is undeniably among the most well-known personalities in popular media today and has established himself as a disruptor in the boxing world over the past few years. The former Disney star made his professional boxing debut in January 2020 and has racked up an impressive 11-1 record, with seven knockout victories to his credit.
Given that Paul gained notoriety through social media and television, many credit 'The Problem Child' for propelling the concept of influencer boxing to new heights. Paul is notably coming off a decision win over Mike Tyson last month. However, it appears he's done with influencer boxing for good to focus on his professional career.
Has Jake Paul retired from boxing?
Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) recently released a statement via social media regarding the former Disney star's retirement from influencer boxing. However, Paul has not retired from the sport of boxing, and it appears he's focusing on cementing his legacy as a professional pugilist from now on.
In a recent Instagram post, MVP shared some throwback images of Paul's debut professional fight against AnEnsonGib and declared his retirement from the influencer boxing space. Naming AnEnsonGib as the best influencer to step inside the squared circle, the statement read:
"Flashback Friday to when Jake Paul was an influencer boxer. 2 fights, 2-0, 2KOs. The best there was, is, and ever will be. Jake Paul is RETIRED from that sport. They need him, he doesn’t need them… hence why they said his name 400 times this past week. Gib is the current best in that sport."
While Paul may be done with influencer boxing, he seemingly has high hopes as a professional. Over the past few months, he's expressed an interest in fighting world champions like Canelo Alvarez and was also called out by Artur Beterbiev. Apart from that, he's also been challenged for a fight by stars like Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis.
Apart from boxing, Paul is also expected to make his MMA debut under the PFL banner next year.
