"He beats Jon Jones easily" - Former Bellator fighter, often a subject of trolls, shares hot take on Alex Pereira
The talks of Alex Pereira's potential move to heavyweight have been picking up steam in recent months. Pereira secured his third light heavyweight title defense with a fourth-round KO of Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307.
During his octagon interview, Pereira said that he can go to heavyweight but feels comfortable cutting weight for light heavyweight as well. ESPN MMA posted the Brazilian's quote on Instagram.
Former Bellator fighter Dillon Danis, who has been a target of online trolling, took to the post's comments section and gave his take on Pereira's potential showdown against UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
"He beats Jon Jones easily."
Fan reactions to Danis' statement suggested that fight fans largely disagreed with his assessment.
While talks of Pereira's potential fights against Jones or interim champion Tom Aspinall have intrigued fight fans, 'Poatan' will most likely face No.2-ranked light heavyweight Magomed Ankalaev.
In a recent interview with Submission Radio, MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz claimed that the UFC has agreed to give Magomedov a title shot if he defeats Aleksandar Rakic in their upcoming UFC 308 fight.
Alex Pereira's take on fighting Jon Jones - "I want to get his experience"
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is regarded as one of the greatest combat sports athletes of all time. The Albuquerque native is in the twilight of his professional MMA career, and his UFC 309 fight against Stipe Miocic will likely be his retirement fight.
At Noche UFC 306, Jones and Alex Pereira were seated next to each other. Viral photos from the event showed that the duo had a cordial interaction despite the talks of a potential superfight. Speaking to Full Send MMA after the event, Pereira shared his thoughts on competing against Jones:
"Jon is heavyweight-sized and I feel like I am heavyweight-sized too. Today, I thought he looked more athletic, more fit than the last time he fought. I want to get his experience. Sometimes people say he is going to fight one or two times more. I don't know if I will be able to share the cage with him but at least I want to get the experience of training with him."
