"He was a bit of a crazy guy" - Amanda Ribas talks about recent run-in with stalker

Amanda Ribas recently shared a scary incident about her run-in with a stalker.

In the world of combat sports, fans naturally have their favorite fighters and so on. However, some fans take their love for athletes too far and sometimes become stalkers. Recently, BKFC's Paige VanZant revealed that she was dealing with a stalker who showed up at her gym.

Sadly, she's far from the only female fighter who has dealt with this issue. In a recent interview with AG Fight, Ribas opened up on her stalking incident. The Brazilian recently competed at UFC Vegas 89 against Rose Namajunas last month.

As fight week arrived, Ribas checked in at her hotel in Las Vegas and met a man, who apparently traveled from Ukraine to meet her. She accepted gifts from the man, who then informed her that he believed they were married.

Now obviously, the UFC women's flyweight contender had never met the man. However, he believed that they were actually in love with one another. Speaking in the interview, Ribas revealed:

"He was a bit of a crazy guy. On the first day, I arrived at the hotel and fans are usually there so we can sign something, take a photo. But this guy was a little crazy... This guy, on his social network, it was written that I was his wife, that he lived in such a country and was going to move to Varginha."

Did Amanda Ribas' stalker affect her UFC Vegas 89 fight?

After dealing with her stalker, Amanda Ribas suffered a loss in the main event of UFC Vegas 89.

The fight against former champion Rose Namajunas was the biggest of her career to that point. While the two went back and forth for five rounds, it was 'Thug Rose' who emerged with the unanimous decision victory.

Given what the Brazilian dealt with in fight week, many would forgive the defeat. However, in the interview with AG Fight, Amanda Ribas wasn't too upset over it, nor did she make excuses for the decision loss.

In the interview, the contender even joked about the situation. According to the Brazilian, the man even showed up at the UFC PI to attend her fight, but was told off by security. Reflecting on everything, Ribas stated:

"To finish off the week that I started single, I went 'dating', I got 'engaged' and 'got married', I 'separated' too. They researched and saw that he had posted on social media that he was traveling to another city and that we were separated... It was the most unexpected 'relationship' I've ever had."
