“He can dig deep” - Freddie Haggerty believes Jonathan Haggerty can best Superlek in ‘a dogfight’
Freddie Haggerty has confidence that his elder brother, two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty, can dig deep and go toe-to-toe with anyone inside the Circle.
'The General' may have to do just that when he faces one of the toughest tests of his career on Friday, September 6. On that night, ONE Championship stops by at Ball Arena in The Mile High City for ONE 168: Denver.
As one of the most anticipated cards of the year, fans will be treated to a plethora of can't-miss clashes, including a main event matchup pitting two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty as he puts his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title on the line against 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9.
Speaking with ONE ahead of his big brother's next title defense, Freddie Haggerty believes 'The General' can hold his own in a dogfight with anyone on the ONE Championship roster.
"He knows he can dig deep, and if he has to have a dogfight, he knows he can do that,” the younger Haggerty said.
Superlek seeks two-sport glory against Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168: Denver
Thus far, Superlek is a perfect 10-0 in Muay Thai competition under the ONE banner, earning wins over Tagir Khalilov, Nabil Anane, 'The Iron Man' Rodtang, and Kongthoranee Sor Sommai.
Along the way, 'The Kicking Machine' captured the ONE flyweight kickboxing crown with a dominant victory over Daniel Puertas. He has since followed that up with a successful defense against Japanese kickboxing legend Takeru Segawa at ONE 165 in Tokyo.
If Superlek can land arguably the biggest win of his career against Jonathan Haggerty, he will etch his name in the history books as a two-sport ONE world champion — while also stripping Haggerty of the two-sport status he currently holds.
