"He can put him away" - Danial Williams believes Rodtang-Jacob Smith rematch at ONE 169 won't go the distance
Danial Williams believes that we may see a finish in one of the major high-stakes contests set for ONE 169. The card was recently moved from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta to Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, but the show must go on.
On November 8, ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang is back to defend his crown in Bangkok.
He will be facing a former opponent of his when 'The Iron Man' and Jacob Smith clash for the second time.
They first met over two years ago where Smith came into ONE Championship for his debut in the promotion and despite losing the fight, was able to go the distance.
Williams, who also shared the stage with Rodtang in the past, said that he thinks the champion may be able to put Smith away this time around despite the toughness of the challenger:
"I think Rodtang wins. I think he can even put him away. But Jacob is a hard fighter. He trains really hard, like a lot of sprints and that. So he's also quite resilient. I just think Rodtang wins."
Danial Williams is putting the emphasis back on his striking
Danial Williams entered into ONE Championship in the exact same way as Jacob Smith.
In April of 2021, he made his debut in the promotion by stepping in to face Rodtang and losing a decision verdict to the Thai superstar.
Since then, he has competed in Muay Thai, kickboxing, and, most recently, MMA.
'Mini T' returned to the win column this past weekend at ONE Fight Night 25, where he defeated Banma Duoji via unanimous decision.
Now, Williams is looking to return to Muay Thai with the knowledge that maintaining all three sports is not possible.
Perhaps a rematch with 'The Iron Man' could also be an option for him later on down the line.
