"He did what champions have to do" - Liam Harrison impressed by Jonathan Haggerty's heart in epic comeback vs Felipe Lobo
Despite whatever animosity Liam Harrison and Jonathan Haggerty had in the past, Harrison has temporarily set their differences aside with talks of admiration for his fellow countryman.
Like most die-hard fans, the 'Hitman' is also eager to watch Haggerty defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against flyweight kickboxing kingpin Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver, this September.
The Thai-Brit rivals are some of the world's best pound-for-pound strikers, so it will be very intriguing to see who comes out on top.
Unsurprisingly, Harrison is backing up Superlek to win, not because of his rocky relationship with Haggerty, but because he believes Superlek to be the superior fighter.
Nonetheless, he's given 'The General' credit recently, for embodying the heart of a champion in his first world-title defense against 'Demolition Man' Felipe Lobo.
Ahead of his comeback fight at ONE 168: Denver, the 'Hitman' told Sky Sports MMA Club:
"He [Jonathan Haggerty] was very close to getting stopped there. I think in that fight, he showed a lot of defensive flaws. However, he did show how good his heart is, he came back, and he did what champions have to do."
"I've still got what it takes to hang at the top level" - Former multiple-time Muay Thai champion Liam Harrison plots a triumphant return after more than 2 years outside the ring
Liam Harrison is plotting a triumphant return to the ring after his original comeback fight at ONE 167 fell through.
The 38-year-old veteran had a bantamweight brawl arranged for him earlier this month against Katsuki Kitano, but the fight was regrettably pulled from the card after both strikers missed weight.
Even with a change in opponent in place, legendary Thai superstar Seksan Or Kwanmuang, Harrison's goal to come out with a victory hasn't changed.
He previously told ONE:
"I wanna come back and show the fans that I've still got what it takes to hang at the top level."
ONE 168: Denver will be available to stream live and for free in North America with an Amazon Prime Video subscription.
