“He has a huge advantage” - Lito Adiwang says Jarred Brooks’ style trumps Gustavo Balart
Jarred Brooks is going for a tough task ahead of him in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24.
On August 2, live in U.S. primetime from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium, Brooks will face a former Olympian in Cuba's Gustavo Balart for the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title.
Although Brooks are known to have produced many great performances during his time in the organization, he's now facing a formidable wrestler who had blasted his way after a rough start into becoming one of the top contenders in this division.
But in the eyes of his former foe Lito Adiwang, Brooks will be the one having an edge based on his overall performance in the world's largest martial arts organization.
Lito told Sportskeeda MMA in a recent interview:
"For me, I expect to see Brooks winning this one. He has a huge advantage on the judging because of their fight styles. I give Brooks an edge, 70/30, 70 for Brooks and 30 for Balart."
He went on with his reasons:
"In terms of fight styles, Brooks can adjust easily in terms of striking. He can play with his offensive approach during fights. We all know that he’s a wrestler, he has a wrestling base, and he’s amazing at it."
Jarred Brooks needs to be versatile in his interim title fight with Gustavo Balart
For Jarred Brooks, all improvements he made in his overall game are crucial for him to return into the winners' circle this time around.
Although Gustavo Balart will come with a heavy hand and a set of dynamic striking of his own, his bread and butter is still his wrestling game.
Hence, it might not be a good idea for Brooks to going in head first into the realm that is his foe's favorite.
One thing for sure, 'The Monkey God' will have to showcase all of his weapons in order to secure a highreel victory over 'El Gladiador'.
