"He has a legacy" - Shamil Erdogan says annihilating Aung La N Sang is the quickest route to a title shot
ONE middleweight MMA contender Shamil Erdogan knows that Aung La N Sang could be the one of the final few hurdles on his journey to a coveted world title shot.
After all, there's no better way to prove that he's ready for 26 pounds of gold than beating an icon who previously held two belts simultaneously.
This possible world title eliminator at 205 pounds between Erdogan and Aung La N Sang will go down in the promotion's return to the U.S. at ONE 168: Denver.
Before his clash with Myanmar's hero on Sept. 6 at the Ball Arena, Erdogan paid his respects to the former middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world champion:
"Aung La N Sang is one of the best. He has a legacy. He was a two-weight champion in his time."
However, the undefeated Turkish powerhouse has sights set on gold and will do everything in his power to be the next rightful challenger. He added:
"My hope is a win over him will open the door for me to a championship belt."
Meanwhile, Erdogan will certainly have his hands full against his most decorated adversary yet.
Plus, 'The Burmese Python' is also on a red-hot three-fight winning streak, and is also looking to make one final run at the title.
Aung La N Sang excited to go to war against Shamil Erdogan
At 39 years old, Aung La N Sang is nearing the twilight of his decorated career. Still, the former double champion enjoys going to work every day, hustling day in and day out to hone his craft.
'The Burmese Python' simply loves to fight, and he knows Erdogan will give him a good scrap soon enough.
The Kill Cliff FC standout shared in a clip on his YouTube page:
"There's nothing more than I love that I love than that feeling when you're in a fight, and it's just when you see someone getting knocked out. That war feeling is what I love."
