"He has a lot of fans here" - Stephen Loman surprised that Jarred Brooks has developed a fan base in the Philippines
Despite his rivalry with the Philippines' Joshua Pacio, Jarred Brooks has certainly won the respect and admiration of the passionate Filipino audience. Stephen Loman certainly thinks so, claiming the new interim strawweight MMA world champion will always be welcome in his home country.
The Lions Nation MMA standout and second-ranked bantamweight MMA contender said in a Sportskeeda MMA exclusive:
"He has a lot of fans here, that's surprising really. Even though he just talks so much trash, there are a lot of Filipino fans who really like his style."
While Filipinos will always root for their countryman in Pacio, it seems they have also taken a liking to the brash Brooks.
'The Monkey God' is always entertaining when a microphone is within his reach. Plus, he backs up all his bravado with his world-class MMA skills, which we've seen time and time again in the world's largest martial arts organization.
After claiming the interim gold, it's safe to say that Jarred Brooks' chapter with 'The Passion' is far from over. Once the strawweight MMA world champion fully recovers from his ACL injury, a trilogy bout to unify the belts is certainly in order.
Jarred Brooks open for Joshua Pacio trilogy in Manila
Jarred Brooks first beat Joshua Pacio in front of a packed Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines at ONE 164 back in 2022.
After getting a taste of the electric atmosphere in Manila, 'The Monkey God' said he'd love for the third and perhaps final meeting to take place in Pacio's home country.
Brooks said after claiming the interim strawweight crown at ONE Fight Night 24:
"Joshua Pacio, if he's still on the back end, and he ends up getting better, and his knee feels better, and his neck feels better then let's run it back in Manila."
