“He made some mistakes” - Mohamed Younes Rabah says he found holes in Eddie Abasolo’s game ahead of ONE 169 tussle
Mohamed Younes Rabah believes he'll always be a step ahead when he gets inside the ring against Eddie Abasolo in their impending showdown.
The featherweight Muay Thai contenders will duke it out in a pivotal clash at the stacked ONE 169 card on Nov. 8 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.
Ahead of their looming matchup, Younes Rabah said in an interview with ONE Championship that Abasolo always left crucial openings that can be exploited during fights.
Younes Rabah pointed out that Abasolo used different game plans in his matches against American rising star Luke Lessei and Thai legend Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong.
Although Abasolo showed versatility in the two contests, the Algerian striker said both fights displayed weaknesses in the Filipino-American's style.
Mohamed Younes Rabah said:
"He fought Sitthichai with a game plan and then fought Luke Lessei with another game plan. Still, he made some mistakes and left some openings. We can see it, and we worked on it. Let’s see what happens.”
Abasolo went to two brutal outings against Sitthichai and Lessei at ONE Friday Fights 22 and ONE Fight Night 19, respectively.
While both fights showed Abasolo's technical mastery, the California native succumbed to two decision losses that some fans believe could've gone either way.
ONE 169 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Eddie Abasolo believes a win over Mohamed Younes Rabah would strengthen his case for spot in featherweight top five
Eddie Abasolo's run in ONE Championship has been nothing but pure action, and he's confident a win over Mohamed Younes Rabah at ONE 169 could push him to a spot at the division's upper fold.
'Silky Smooth' fought the best fighters in the featherweight Muay Thai class, and he told 4oz to Freedom that he was due for a spot in the division's top five rankings.
Abasolo said:
"I believe the direction, [breaking into the top five] is where it takes me. Because I fought Luke [Lessei] in my last fight, you know. I believe he's number five right now. Sitthichai is number two. When I fought Niclas Larsen, he was number four or number five, one of those."
