“He has nothing to lose” – Tawanchai impressed by Jo Nattawut’s no-nonsense approach when it comes to fighting
Reigning and undisputed ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai of Thailand believes his upcoming opponent, no.3-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender 'Smokin' Jo Nattawut is a dangerous fighter because he puts it all on the line.
Tawanchai is set to defend his featherweight Muay Thai gold against Nattawut in the co-main event at ONE 167: Stamp vs. Zamboanga on Prime Video.
The event broadcasts live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free on Friday, June 7, U.S. primetime, on Amazon Prime Video.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Tawanchai praised Nattawut for his no-nonsense approach to fighting.
The PK Saenchai Muay Thai gym representative said:
"I think the reason he can fight fiercely is because he has nothing to lose."
Tawanchai counts Nattawut among the very best he has fought in the world's largest martial arts organization.
The two first met at ONE Fight Night 15 on Prime Video in Oct. 2023. Tawanchai was pushed to the limit in a close three-round affair that really tested the young phenom.
In the end, Tawanchai took home a unanimous decision victory, but fans know Nattawut more than held his own in that fight.
ONE Championship stars picking Tawanchai to repeat over Jo Nattawut
While the fight is expected to be a close contest, many ONE Championship stars are picking Tawanchai to beat Jo Nattawut convincingly in their upcoming rematch.
Strawweight MMA sensation Lito 'Thunder Kid' Adiwang says he was very impressed by Tawanchai in his first fight against Nattawut.
The Filipino told ONE Championship:
"Tawanchai really embodied the Muay Thai identity, the Muay Thai game [against Nattawut]. Very impressive, very impressive. It felt like muscle memory. It was already there, he didn't have to calculate anything, he just threw it and it went in."
Meanwhile, Malaysian sensation Johan Ghazali has Tawanchai winning as well.
He told Sportskeeda MMA:
"With this being in Muay Thai, I believe Tawanchai is going to use all that extra weapons, you know, the heavy elbows, knees, kicks, and everything, to just attack through Jo Nattawut. I don't see it going any other way, really."
