"He's coming at you a million miles an hour" - Jarred Brooks prepared to match Gustavo Balart's grueling wrestling pace
Since arriving at ONE Championship, Jarred Brooks's pace and pressure have been a real problem for the strawweight division. 'The Monkey God' believes that he is the best in his weight class, and weaponizing his conditioning is a crucial element of his game.
Constant output and his wrestling offense have been key to securing victories inside the Circle, but now he faces a unique proposition.
Cuba's Gustavo Balart may be the only man in the division that can match Brooks when it comes to wrestling ability.
Having previously represented his country at the Olympic Games, Balart is also known for enforcing his will on opponents whether that means controlling them or wearing them out over time.
This is something that Brooks is well aware of heading into the main event of ONE Fight Night 24.
In a recent interview with FightWave, he spoke about how he is prepared for Balart's style:
"You have somebody trying to hold you up against the fence and you can't do anything besides giving those little rabbit taps, or he's coming at you a million miles an hour."

Jarred Brooks will look to overcome and adapt
The key aspect of this interim strawweight title fight for Jarred Brooks is how he deals with the difficult style of Balart.
It doesn't seem likely that the former champion is going to be able to implement his usual strategy against an opponent that also fights with constant pressure and output.
This fight will likely be decided by who is able to have the most success with their game plan and who is able to adapt the best to the opponent.
Brooks will need to use his entire MMA skillset to come out on top this time around at Lumpinee Stadium on August 2.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
