"He's a fighter that has no immediate weaknesses" - Kang Ji Won dissects Kirill Grishenko's all-around brilliance

'Mighty Warrior' Kang Ji Won hasn't registered successive wins on the global stage since 2021, but he plans on changing that when he gets back in action at ONE Fight Night 23.

The South Korean meets Kirill Grishenko in a heavyweight MMA tussle, which takes place inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on July 5.

He, however, knows securing the victory is far easier said than done, given Grishenko's versatility and ability to adapt across all departments.

Speaking to ONE Championship, Kang Ji Won noted:

"Well, he is a great wrestler, is a tall fighter, and has great cardio. In all objectivity, he's a fighter that has no immediate weaknesses. He is a powerful fighter."

As good of a fighter Grishenko is, 'Mighty Warrior' isn't going to sell himself short as he attempts to gain his fifth promotional win at the Mecca of Muay Thai.

Though some improvements can be made to his durability in later rounds, the 28-year-old has knockout power for days and adequate stand-up and grappling skills to present the Belarusian fighter with a lot of problems.

Kang Ji Won says he's focused on his wrestling ahead of ONE return

Having suffered a pair of submission defeats under the ONE banner to Ben Tynan and BJJ legend Marcus Almeida, Kang Ji Won has put extra emphasis on his ground game ahead of his ONE Fight Night 23 return.

Grishenko, like the names mentioned above, often relies on his Greco-Roman wrestling pedigree as a path to victory.

As such, the Wang Ho representative has not spared any effort to ensure he can flip the script against another grappling expert.

The South Korean fighter, in the same interview, added:

"I've consistently faced wrestlers and grapplers, so working on grappling defense has been a second nature to my camps."

North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire ONE Fight Night 23 card live in U.S. primetime for free on Friday, July 5.
