“He’s fucking awesome” - Mikey Musumeci excited to ‘make history’ with Kade Ruotolo in jiu-jitsu superfight
Reigning and undisputed ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion 'Darth Rigatoni' Mikey Musumeci of the United States is coming off a fantastic revenge victory over archrival Gabriel Sousa of Brazil last weekend.
Musumeci locked horns with the Brazilian IBJJF world champion at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II on Prime Video, and won via submission in the first round after forcing Sousa to tap to a calf slicer.
The event took place live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand last Saturday, June 8th.
With the victory, 'Darth Rigatoni' now moves his focus on to a showdown with ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo in September.
Speaking to veteran ONE Championship broadcast analyst Mitch 'The Dragon' Chilson, Musumeci talked about his upcoming match with his fellow American.
'Darth Rigtaoni' said:
"This isn’t about money for me. This isn’t about just winning. I can win in my division, obviously you guys can see I can win in my division. That’s why I want to roll with the best guys."
Musumeci continued:
"Kade and me are both the two best natural athletes in jiu-jitsu - and Tye, of course. But we’re gonna make the biggest fight in jiu-jitsu history - the two natural people that don’t take any steroids or cheat. And that’s why we’re doing this. We’re making history and I want to fuckin roll with the best. He’s fucking awesome."
