"He's gonna be great for my legacy" - Jonathan Haggerty says win over Superlek will cement his status as "the best"

Two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty has been on the path to greatness over the past year, and he believes a win over Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver will further elevate his status as the pound-for-pound greatest.

The English striker defends his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against 'The Kicking Machine' inside Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, on Sept. 6.

It won't be the first time 'The General' squares off against the Thai megastar as they met outside the promotion in October 2018. Despite Superlek earning a TKO victory over the Brit that evening, Haggerty is certain he will even the score against Superlek in the main event of ONE 168.

Moreover, the Knowlesy Academy and Team Underground star wants to silence the doubters and prove why he has been touted as a potential pound-for-pound great today.

Speaking to InsideFighting before he puts his gold on the line against the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion, Jonathan Haggerty said:

"I think he's gonna be great for my legacy. It's going to cement me right up there with the best in the world. And there will be no more doubters."

It's certainly hard to argue with Haggerty's view that he could be the man to bring an end to Superlek's impressive 10-match win streak. The 27-year-old Londoner has bagged three back-to-back knockouts over Nong-O Hama, Fabricio Andrade, and Felipe Lobo while claiming the Muay Thai and kickboxing gold in the bantamweight bracket.

He's looking in top shape with fight night just a day away, and given the form he's in, another majestic victory could be in the offing for the British slugger at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6.

Freddie Haggerty says Jonathan Haggerty's "massive" size will hurt Superlek in Denver

Meanwhile, Freddie Haggertty — who's kicked things off on the global stage with back-to-back wins — sees his elder brother's size advantage as a main factor that'll power him to a win over Superlek.

The 19-year-old had this to say to the South China Morning Post last month:

"I think Jon's going to wear him down. Jon has built himself up for this weight, he's massive. He's looking big in training."
