“He’s good, man” - Jarred Brooks stacks praise on Gustavo Balart after ONE Fight Night 24 battle
Jarred Brooks voiced his respect for Gustavo Balart following their main event scrap last weekend.
At ONE Fight Night 24, Brooks and Balart battled in the main event with the American all geared up to claim the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title. 'The Monkey God,' who lost the undisputed strap earlier this year by disqualification, silenced the doubters by taking the Cuban Olympic wrestler down and submitting him with a rear-naked choke in round one.
Heading into the August 2 event, Balart was riding a four-fight winning streak and proved he was a legitimate threat to the undisputed strawweight MMA throne. After taking out 'El Gladiator', Brooks joined Sportskeeda for a post-fight interview at ONE Fight Night 24 and had this to say about his opponent:
"It's great man. I'm super super happy with how things went and, you know, Gustavo, he's good, man. I mean if you watch any of his other fights, he's constantly going back and forth with flyweights, with every other strawweight."
ONE Fight Night 24 features two fighters becoming new world champions - Jarred Brooks and Mayssa Bastos. The replay of the Lumpinee Stadium event can be seen for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Jarred Brooks may not wait for Joshua Pacio's return before fighting again
In March, Jarred Brooks shockingly lost his world title against Joshua Pacio by disqualification. Since then, the American superstar has vowed to bounce back and regain his strap, a journey he started by defeating Gustavo Balart.
Brooks is expected to fight Pacio once the latter returns from his torn ACL. With that said, 'The Monkey God' could pursue another fight at the end of 2024, as 'The Passion' might not make his next ONE appearance until early 2025.
It should be noted that Pacio isn't the only fighter that Brooks called out during his ONE Fight Night 24 celebration. The interim strawweight MMA world champion also mentioned ONE flyweight MMA king Demetrious Johnson, who hasn't officially announced if he will retire or fight again.
