“He’s the same as me” - ‘Reug Reug’ Oumar Kane inspired by heavyweight greats Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou
'Reug Reug' Oumar Kane wants to cement himself as the next great heavyweight in mixed martial arts.
That said, the Senegalese monster has taken inspiration from some of the biggest names in the sport, including UFC heavyweight MMA champion Jon Jones and PFL Super Fights Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou.
In an exclusive ONE Championship interview, 'Reug Reug' revealed his admiration for 'Bones' skill while applauding 'The Predator's finishing power.
"Jon Jones, his moves are good. I especially like his high kicks - he does it really well. I like Jon Jones. For Francis Ngannou, I like his power. He’s the same as me in that sense," he said.
Kane can align himself with these two superstars if he can fulfill a daunting task this coming Friday.
After going 5-1 in his MMA matches in ONE, the 32-year-old earned himself a shot to challenge Anatoly Malykhin for his heavyweight MMA belt in the main event of ONE 169.
This colossal showdown will take place inside the fabled halls of Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium on Nov. 8, live in US Primetime.
'Reug Reug' says Anatoly Malykhin started their beef
It's quite clear that there's no love lost between the champion Anatoly Malykhin and his next challenger, 'Reug Reug'.
The pair of hulking behemoths have exchanged some venomous provocations in the build-up to their five-round battle.
In the same interview, 'Reug Reug' made it clear that it's the Russian triple champ who instigated this war of words and he's simply just responding.
"No, it’s not me. It’s Anatoly talking bullshit. I didn’t start this. That guy is talking too much. He called me once on Facetime and he was just 'blah, blah, blah,' you know? That guy is very funny."
ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug is free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
