“He’s really sharp” - Lito Adiwang says Takeru’s fast hands could give Rodtang problems in their inevitable showdown
Filipino strawweight MMA standout and former Team Lakay member 'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang of the Philippines says the potential showdown between Japan's Takeru Segawa and Thailand's Rodtang Jitmuangnon could be closer than fans think.
At first glance, it would be easy to pick Rodtang to win the monumental matchup, given just how explosive and dangerous 'The Iron Man' is. But Adiwang says Takeru's incredible boxing skills are not to be underestimated.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Adiwang shared his thoughts on Takeru's boxing, and how it could trouble the Thai star.
'Thunder Kid' said:
"We saw it in his last fight. He’s really sharp and his boxing base is really world-class, unlike Rodtang’s previous opponents who threw conventional combinations that he could easily read."
'The Natural Born Crusher' and 'The Iron Man' are no doubt on a collision course, and Adiwang simply cannot wait to witness the two top strikers trade leather in the world's largest martial arts organization.
When this fight gets made is anyone's guess. But first, Rodtang has to get past his next world title defense for this fight to be even possible.
Rodtang Jitmuangnon to defend ONE gold against former foe Jacob Smith at ONE 169 on Prime Video
'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon will put his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title on the line when he faces former adversary Jacob Smith in a highly anticipated rematch.
The fight takes place at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Prime Video, which broadcasts live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, Nov. 8.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free on Amazon Prime Video.
Needless to say, the future of the Takeru fight rests squarely on Rodtang's shoulders at this point, and if he beats Smith, there should be no more obstacles to making this blockbuster matchup a reality.
