“He still lacks experience” - Superbon highlights the missing trait from Khunsuek’s complete Muay Thai arsenal
Superbon explained what one of his star students, Khunsuek, needs to reach the level of him and Nong-O Hama.
In 2023, the former utilized his resources and experience to open his gym Superbon Training Camp. Since then, the team based out of Bangkok, Thailand has quickly solidified themselves as one of the best in ONE Championship.
Superbon and Nong-O are undoubtedly the leaders of the gym, but a handful of fighters are working toward being the future. Khunsuek, a 24-year-old to keep an eye on at featherweight, was praised by Superbon during an interview with ONE:
“I think Khunsuek now just needs the experience to reach the point where Nong-O or I are because he still lacks experience.”
The Thai striker followed up by saying:
"He has a good body structure, experience, good mind, and attitude, and he learns and remembers things quickly."
Khunsuek made his ONE Championship debut in June, defeating Thway Thit Win Hlaing by unanimous decision. Two months later, the former Rajadamner Stadium Muay Thai world champion suffered his first promotional setback due to a second-round knockout loss against Mamuka Usubyan.
Superbon will represent his gym in ONE Friday Fights 81 main event
Earlier this year, the Bangkok-based star brought gold back to his gym by defeating Marat Grigorian for the ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world title. The 34-year-old now looks to continue his journey toward two-sport supremacy.
On Friday, Sept. 27, he will headline ONE Friday Fights 81 in a featherweight Muay Thai matchup. The Thai superstar's upcoming opponent is Jo Nattawut, who has become a fan favorite with back-to-back-to-back Fight of the Year contenders (two in Muay Thai and one in kickboxing).
Nattawut is scheduled to challenge Tawanchai for the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title on Nov. 8 at ONE 169: Atlanta. It should be noted that things can change over the next month and a half, especially considering 'Smokin' is going to battle with the interim featherweight king later this week.
ONE Friday Fights 81 will take place inside the legendary combat sports venue of Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. Friday's event in Bangkok, Thailand can be seen via pay-per-view on watch.onefc.com.
