"He was still standing at the end" - Superlek gives Takeru props for daring game plan in their Tokyo super fight at ONE 165
ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 spectacularly defended his throne against the debuting Japanese kickboxing great Takeru Segawa at ONE 165 this past January.
'The Kicking Machine' lived up to his moniker as he peppered Takeru with kicks to his lead leg which turned his thigh into a different shade of purple and Superlek was amazed that 'The Natural Born Crusher' even made it to the final bell.
ONE Championship recently shared a video of the Thai star looking at how much damage he did to Takeru's leg on Instagram.
Superlek broke down Takeru's approach to the fight and said:
"It looks like it burns. I was very surprised he was still standing at the end. Because every kick I threw, he didn't defend any of them. Some may be wondering, 'Why was Takeru not defending himself?', but don't forget Takeru's lead leg is his left leg. He has to step in to punch me. He can't protect himself whenever he steps in. He sacrificed his defense to attack me."
Superlek now turns his attention to two-sport dominance as he aims to dethrone Jonathan Haggerty for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship at ONE 168: Denver on September 6 at Ball Arena in Colorado.
Superlek promises ultra aggression against Jonathan Haggerty
Defeating Haggerty in front of a raucous crowd inside the Ball Arena in Denver will ask Superlek to switch things up inside the Circle and he is more than ready for it.
Superlek stated in the post-event press conference after his big win at ONE Friday Fights 68:
"I think it would be very different from what the fans have seen today. It'll be a totally different game and I have determination to just go forward with that game. It will be very fun and entertaining."
