“He is a talented kid” - Nico Cornejo isn’t taking Adrian Lee lightly ahead of ONE 168 showdown
35-year-old Colorado native 'The Steel City Kid' Nico Cornejo is getting ready to make his ONE Championship debut. Despite taking on a young opponent almost half his age, Cornejo says he isn't taking 18-year-old 'The Phenom' Adrian Lee lightly by any means.
After all, Lee is one of the most recognized names in the sport, being the younger brother of reigning ONE lightweight and welterweight MMA king Christian Lee and former ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion Angela Lee.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Cornejo shared his thoughts on Lee as a fighter and said he is impressed by what he has studied.
'The Steel City Kid' stated:
"And he is a talented kid. I will not take that away from him. I’ve seen his record. I’ve seen a couple of his videos, and he does put in the work. But hey, so do I, too."
Cornejo is looking to score a massive upset against a highly touted prospect, and a victory over Lee would certainly earn him some very important brownie points in ONE Championship.
Fans won't have to wait long to see the two warriors go at it in the Circle.
