“He has to watch out for that elbows” - Johan Ghazali says Jonathan Haggerty needs to be on alert for Superlek’s trademark tool
If Jonathan Haggerty hopes to leave with the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title intact, teen phenom Johan Ghazali believes he'll have to be on the lookout for one of Superlek's trademark weapons.
Since making the move to bantamweight in 2020, 'The General' has looked practically unstoppable, running through the likes of Nong-O Hama, ONE bantamweight MMA world titleholder Fabricio Andrade, and the 'Demolition Man' Felipe Lobo in his last three outings.
However this time, Haggerty will face his toughest test yet when he meets a man who has never lost in the art of eight limbs under the ONE banner—Superlek.
Joining Superlek and Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168: Denver this Friday night, September 6, 17-year-old sensation Johan Ghazali offered some insight into what Haggerty must do to remain a two-sport ONE world champion in The Mile High City. Ghazali told the promotion:
"For Superlek he has everything to beat Jonathan Haggerty, honestly. But I would say his elbows... That will be the difference. He [Haggerty] has to watch out for that elbows.”
Johan Ghazali is confident he'll climb back into the win column at ONE 168: Denver
Before Superlek and Jonathan Haggerty go toe-to-toe in one of the most anticipated headliners of the year, fans will see Johan Ghazali step back inside the Circle, determined to climb back into the win column after coming up short in his last outing.
After going 5-0 in ONE, with four of his victories coming by way of KO, Ghazali suffered a setback against Vietnamese standout Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat at ONE 167 in June.
This time around, he'll look to land a win over Mexican slugger Josue Cruz in a bout pitting two heavy-hitting prospects against one another.
Cruz makes his third walk to the Circle in desperate need of a win after suffering back-to-back KOs in his first two appearances against Walter Goncalves and Sean Climaco.
Will Cruz see his hand raised for the first time in ONE Championship, or will 'Jojo' bag his sixth W and get back to his winning ways in The Centennial State?
ONE 168: Denver will air live on Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime in both the United States and Canada on Friday, September 6. Follow this link for tickets to attend the event live at Ball Arena.
