"He will have a hard time" - Gustavo Balart vows a rough night for Jarred Brooks in upcoming world title tilt
Gustavo Balart's never-say-die attitude had pushed him on the brink of gold, and he vows to bring that same package to accomplish his dream at ONE Fight Night 24.
The No.3-ranked strawweight MMA contender vies for the division's interim crown against Jarred Brooks inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, August 2.
While he trusts his all-around abilities to upset the former divisional king, 'El Gladiador' recognizes that Brooks can go from zero to a hundred in the blink of an eye.
As such, the Cuban Olympian hopes to best the Mash Fight Team athlete at his own game to secure victory in Bangkok, Thailand.
Gustavo Balart had this to say to ONE Championship ahead of his return:
"I think that whoever wrestles the best that day will be victorious. He will have a hard time trying to take me down. He will be tested. I will match his level and intensity."
Whether or not the 4-foot-11 warrior can walk the talk remains to be seen, though.
But if he does, it'll surely go down as the biggest victory of his career.
ONE Fight Night 24 will be available live in U.S. primetime for free to all active Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Gustavo Balart ready to 'defeat anyone' that comes in his way of ONE gold
Separately, Gustavo Balart admits he'd be more than ready to knock down any contenders that come in his way of a possible unification matchup against the divisional king should he go on to upset Brooks inside the Mecca of Muay Thai.
'El Gladiador' outlined a simple equation to keep himself busy until Joshua Pacio, who is currently recovering from an ACL injury, is due for a return on the global stage:
"Winning the interim belt will give me a chance to face whoever is next on the list, including the undisputed champion."
"My job is to try to be the new champion, and to do that, I need to defeat anyone in my path."
