Henry Cejudo breaks down why Sean O'Malley struggled against Merab Dvalishvili at Noche UFC

Henry Cejudo recently gave his take on Sean O'Malley's poor performance against Merab Dvalishvili at Noche UFC 306. Cejudo then went on to call out O'Malley for a matchup in Arizona.

After numerous hilarious skits and barbs at O'Malley in interviews and on social media, Dvalishvili finally challenged 'Sugar' for the bantamweight title at Noche UFC 306 this past weekend. 'The Machine' dominated O'Malley from beginning to end and won the title by unanimous decision, putting on a complete wrestling masterpiece.

Cejudo recently took to X and explained O'Malley's struggles versus Dvalishvili, saying:

''A lot of people say that Sean was flat, but Sean has never fought somebody like a Merab Dvalishvili, a freestyle fighter... Merab moves, as O'Malley was here, he [Dvalishvili] was literally running, and as he would get closer, he would punch and be able to turn that punch into a takedown, to be able to get on top of O'Malley and pretty much just control him''

Cejudo continued:

''But the thing is, the more that Merab made a guy like O'Malley get up, the better it was for a guy, because he was doing it again. He was fatiguing him through his struggles getting up and then he was catching him again with his punch to his takedowns...I want a showdown with Sean O'Malley here in Arizona. For Merab? He has only one opponent and that's Umar Nurmagomedov.''

Cejudo had previously referred to O'Malley as "O'Methyl" in another X post and promised to teach him wrestling after the former champion gave up six takedowns against Dvalishvili, writing:

''Hey O’Methyl…You wanted to be the next Conor McGregor-well now you are. Neither of you bums can defend a takedown. I’m teaching “Wrestling for Cok*heads” at 8 AM. See you in the morning. @SugaSeanMMA''

Sean O'Malley discloses that he will be out of competition for over a year

Sean O'Malley recently discussed his title loss to Merab Dvalishvili at Noche UFC 306 and his likely return date. O'Malley disclosed that he is scheduled to have surgery, which might keep him out of action for nearly a year.

During a recent episode of his podcast, O'Malley interacted with streamer Adin Ross about his return, saying:

"I have surgery on Oct. 3... I tore my labrum 10 weeks ago... I tore my left labrum in my hip. That's the only reason I'm gonna be out for so long. This surgery should only take like two months to come back from, then a couple months recovery. A year is a long time, could be six to eight months... You never know."
