Henry Cejudo discloses possible reason for Leon Edwards refusing Colby Covington fight

Henry Cejudo has shared his thoughts on why UFC welterweight king Leon Edwards is refusing to fight Colby Covington.

In a recently uploaded video to his YouTube channel, 'The Messenger' discussed a possible reason as to why 'Rocky' did not want to compete against Covington. Cejudo said that Edwards' lack of interest in fighting 'Chaos' might come from the belief that a fight against Jorge Masvidal would be a more lucrative option:

"Quite honestly, I don't blame you. I don't blame the fact that you don't want to fight a guy like Colby. Because, you're right. There is beef between you and Jorge Masvidal. There is. He sucker-punched you. You want it back. You make a whole lot more money," said Henry Cejudo.

The rivalry between Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards goes back to March 2019. After the culmination of the UFC London event, Masvidal was giving an interview backstage when he was interrupted by 'Rocky.' The two then got into a physical altercation where Masvidal landed a combo of punches on Edwards before security intervened.

Considering Masvidal's popularity, coupled with their history, a fight between the two welterweights could prove to be a huge event.

Colby Covington reacts to Leon Edwards' comments about not fighting him

Colby Covington believes that if Leon Edwards refuses to fight him, then 'Rocky' will get stripped off his title.

Covington recently sat down for an interview with Mike Heck for MMA Fighting. During his time there, 'Chaos' claimed that Edwards was not a pay-per-view draw and thus, did not have the power to turn down fights:

"He will get stripped. He's not the draw in this division. I'm the draw. Look at the numbers over the weekend. I didn't even fight and my numbers towered over the main event... For Leon to sit there act like he's Conor McGregor, you're not Conor McGregor, bro. You don't get to call the shots, dude. You're a nobody, dude," said Colby Covington.

UFC president Dana White recently announced that Covington will be next in line for a title shot against Edwards. But after 'Rocky's' recent comments, it remains to be seen whether the fight will become a reality or not.
