Henry Cejudo criticised Conor McGregor for not fighting stylistically difficult opponents after the Irishman announced he wants to fight Dustin Poirier this year. Cejudo wants the former Lightweight and Featherweight champion to fight a wrestler and display his grappling skills.

Commenting on ESPN's report of Conor McGregor's announcement, he said:

Conor McGregor why don’t you go learn some wrestling? Show me how good you are and fight a wrestler. You’ll never be the best if you don’t get out of your comfy zone.

Conor McGregor announced on Thursday that he has accepted a fight offered to him by UFC against Dustin Poirier, but wants to fight this year. ESPN journalist Ariel Helwani revealed that the promotion had offered the fight early next year, but the former two-division champion is intent on fighting in November or December.

McGregor knocked out Donald Cerrone in the first round in January and wanted to fight two more times this year. However, differences between the fighter and the UFC has seen the 32-year-old tease another retirement.

Poirier, who has had his own issues with the UFC, is welcome to fighting McGregor in November or December (according to ESPN). The former interim lightweight champion beat contender Dan Hooker in a 5-round war in June.

Cejudo's analysis of Conor's opponents is shallow and typical of the former Olympian. McGregor has fought wrestling heavy fighters like Eddie Alvarez and Chad Mendes, and obviously Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Irishman has great takedown defence, which might have won him the third Round against the Russian champion. Poirier, who was the last to challenge Khabib also struggled with the 32-year-old's wrestling like all his opponents.

Conor McGregor undoubtedly wants a shot at Khabib Nurmagomedov before the Russian walks into the sunset. The Lightweight champion is due to take on Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

Khabib has called out Georges St-Pierre for a potential fight, but Dana White has appeared sceptical about making that fight. The Russia Combat Sambo champion has hinted that he will be willing to take on any fighter who beats Dustin Poirier if the fight with the Canadian doesn't happen.
