“His skill is not the same as us” - Superbon says Nico Carrillo can’t hang with Tawanchai, other featherweights

ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon is open to facing off with noted bantamweight striker Nico Carrillo but believes the Scotsman may not stand a chance against him or any of the featherweight fighters in ONE Championship.

The Thai superstar made this known in a conversation with the South China Morning Post ahead of his scheduled match at ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut on Sept. 27 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the interview, he shared how he is not sold on Carrillo's bantamweight skill set translating well in the featherweight lane, saying:

"For me, yes [I can fight Carrillo], why not? But I think he's still far from us. He's good, but with 70 kilos, he will be big, but not bigger than us. His skill is not the same as us, either me or Tawanchai. So it will be hard to beat us at 70 kilos. But for 65 kilos, it will not be hard for him."

Check out what he had to say below:

Carrillo has been on an impressive roll since coming on board ONE Championship last year. He has racked four straight victories, all coming by way of knockout, and is out to get his world title shot.

Meanwhile, Supebon will take on Thai veteran Jo Nattawut in a featherweight Muay Thai clash, which will serve as the headlining contest at ONE Friday Fights 81.

Superbon wants another shot at the featherweight Muay Thai world title

Superbon narrowly missed winning the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title by majority decision last year and now wants to make another run for it. He is using a victory in his scheduled match at ONE Friday Fights 81 on Sept. 27 to build his case for it.

The 34-year-old fighter challenged featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai PK Saenchai back in December. While he made a good account of himself, taking the reigning champion to the limit, the judges did not see the fight his way by decision.

It is something Superbon is looking to redeem himself from in his showdown with fellow contender Jo Nattawut at ONE Friday Fights 81, telling the South China Morning Post:

"Of course, I need to fight Jo in this fight to challenge for the world title again. I don't know which one between Jo and Tawanchai is going to win, but next title fight, for sure, is going to be me."
