“I always want to fight great fighters” - Rodtang Jitmuangnon says he’ll fight anyone ONE Championship throws at him in the cage
Rodtang Jitmuangnon isn't one to choose his opponents.
The reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion doesn't mind who he faces whenever he steps between the ropes or inside the Circle, but he does want to go up against the best possible fighters in ONE Championship.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Rodtang said he doesn't actively look for super fights or talk them into existence.
Rodtang, however, goes with what ONE Championship has on its plans or what the fans clamor for.
He said:
"I do not have a specific name, but I always want to fight great fighters."
Although he expressed his willingness to take on anyone, Rodtang Jitmuangnon isn't a stranger to super fights in the promotion.
Rodtang has squared off against Jonathan Haggerty, twice, Petchdam Petchyindee, Joseph Lasiri, and Superlek Kiatmoo9.
'The Iron Man' was also instrumental in ONE Championship's overall growth when he took on the legendary Demetrious Johnson in a mixed-rules bout at ONE X in March 2022 in Singapore.
Rodtang's potential super fight against Japanese kickboxing legend Takeru Segawa is also in the works, with ONE Championship setting up the contest in 2025.
Before he takes on Takeru, though, Rodtang will defend his ONE flyweight MMA world title against Jacob Smith in the co-main event of the stacked ONE 169 card on Nov. 8 at Lumpinee Stadium.
Rodtang is 6-0 in his world title matches in the promotion, and looks to push it to seven world title wins in his hometown of Bangkok.
ONE 169 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Rodtang Jitmuangnon says he can always adapt to whatever Jacob Smith brings to their world title match
Rodtang Jitmuangnon has the insane capability of veering off his initial game plan and still taking a thunderous victory.
In the same interview with Sportskeeda MMA, the Thai megastar said he already has a scheme for his world title defense against Jacob Smith.
Nevertheless, he can still put that on hold once he sees how Smith goes at him at Lumpinee Stadium.
Rodtang said:
"It’s difficult to say. As always, it all depends on what happens in the ring. I’ll have to either go according to my plan or improvise it. However, for sure I’ll do my best to get a victory."
