"I was born into it" - Teenage prodigy Adrian Lee says he started martial arts as soon as he could walk

Even if martial arts wasn't always going to be his chosen career, Adrian Lee was always going to be born and raised on the mats.

His family was built around a passion for learning and training in this field due to the path that his parents followed.

Like his siblings before him, Adrian learned to appreciate the gym as a home away from home because it was simply how life was for him.

Though video games were another pursuit that piqued his interest, he eventually started to compete in the amateur side of mixed martial arts, which has now led him to ONE 168.

On September 6 at the Ball Arena in Denver, he makes the second walk of his professional career when he takes on Nico Cornejo.

Ahead of his return, the lightweight MMA prospect spoke in an interview with Cageside Press about his upbringing:

"I grew up on the mats. My entire family has been doing martial arts throughout their lives. So, as soon as I learned how to walk, I was training and competing. So I was kinda born into it."

Adrian Lee has a lifetime of experience behind him

With the amount of time Adrian Lee has spent surrounded by martial arts and the vast experience he is able to draw upon from those around him, it's no surprise that Adrian Lee seems wise beyond his years.

His pro debut at ONE 167 showed glimpses of what he is capable of and there was always going to be a lot of expectations on his shoulders. The important thing for the teenager is to keep on gaining experience at this stage in his career.

He continues to do this and now has the opportunity to compete on a huge stage when he makes the walk at ONE's return to the United States.

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
