"I can deal with that kind of fighter" - Jarred Brooks excited to prove his wrestling is elite against Olympian Gustavo Balart
Jarred Brooks is hoping to make a statement by getting his hand raised in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24.
2024 hasn't been the best year of his career so far after went down at ONE 166 in March in his rematch with Joshua Pacio.
The American was stripped of the strawweight MMA world championship after being disqualified early on in the fight but now he's out to prove once again that he's the best in the division.
With Pacio currently injured, Brooks is set to compete for the interim title against fellow top contender Gustavo Balart.
Balart brings a style to the table that in some ways matches what 'The Monkey God' has done to his opponents.
With constant pressure and output, the Cuban fighter uses his wrestling pedigree to enforce his will on others and break them down.
Brooks spoke in a recent interview with FightWave about how he's excited for this test to show how he deals with a style that shares some resemblance to his own:
"I'm super excited to show people that I can deal with that kind of fighter. And that's usually the fighter that I kinda am."

Jarred Brooks isn't getting carried away either
It can be difficult to stay in the right mindset when you're as fired up as Jarred Brooks is for this next contest.
He doesn't believe that he should have lost the world championship in his last fight and now he has to work his way back to the top.
Whilst he's always motivated to send a message to the rest of the division, he knows that underestimating someone like Balart is a dangerous game to play.
Brooks will need to be at his best at Lumpinee Stadium on August 2 and that's exactly what he intends on doing come fight night.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
