"I can tell you for certain that I’ll be voting for Max Holloway" - UFC lightweight shares light-hearted take as US Presidential Election heats up
Chase Hooper has jokingly claimed that he will be voting for a former UFC champion to become the next United States president.
Earlier this week, Donald Trump (Republican) and Kamala Harris (Democrat) competed in a debate against each other. The primary candidates for the 2024 Presidential Election, which takes place later this year, discussed various topics as people worldwide tuned in and reacted on social media.
Most viewers engaged in fiery online conversations about the debate and the future of the United States. Meanwhile, some people decided to make jokes and memes about the controversial topic, including UFC lightweight Chase Hooper.
Hooper took to X and had this to say about who he plans to vote for:
"I can tell you for certain that I’ll be voting for Max Holloway this November"
Max Holloway is one of the most beloved fighters in UFC history. Following his legendary knockout against Justin Gaethje, 'Blessed' will challenge Ilia Topuria for his featherweight title on Oct. 26 in the UFC 308 main event.
Chase Hooper's run in the UFC
In December 2019, a 20-year-old Chase Hooper made his promotional debut with an 8-0-1 professional MMA record. The then-featherweight prospect looked impressive in his first octagon appearance, defeating Daniel Teymur by first-round TKO, and quickly gained attention from fans for his potential.
The next three years didn't go as planned for Hooper, as he needed to gain more experience. 'The Dream' lost three of his next five fights and needed a change, leading to his move up to the lightweight division.
Hooper's new weight class reignited his sky-high potential, with his evolved physical appearance starting to play a factor. The Washington native's lightweight tenure started with wins against Nick Fiore (unanimous decision) and Jordan Leavitt (first-round submission).
In May, Hooper's latest octagon appearance resulted in a second-round submission win against Viacheslav Borshchev. Now holding a lightweight record of 3-0, the 24-year-old has proven he has the potential to become a ranked fighter.
It's unclear who and when Hooper will fight next. Two months ago, Trey Ogden, 3-2 promotional record (one no-contest), called him out and claimed he's "overrated." It'll be intriguing to see if the promotional grants Ogden his requested matchup.
