“I had the chance to share the stage with the best” - Danny Kingad recalls fond memory of fighting legendary Demetrious Johnson

Third-ranked ONE Championship flyweight MMA contender 'The King' Danny Kingad of the Philippines looked back on his time sharing the Circle with legendary mixed martial artist 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson.

Johnson recently announced his retirement from professional MMA at ONE 168: Denver last weekend, where he took the stage and the mic in front of a packed Ball Arena crowd in Colorado.

'Mighty Mouse' was then inducted into the ONE Championship Hall of Fame, the first fighter to ever receive the honor, and he is now the former flyweight MMA titleholder.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Kingad paid tribute to one of MMA's GOATs.

'The King' stated:

"We may have faced off before, but that doesn’t change the fact that I admire him as an athlete. He’s one of the greatest to ever do it, and I’m grateful that, at some point in my career, I had the chance to share the stage with the best. That’s what being a martial artist is all about—if you want to be great, you have to be willing to take on all comers."

Kingad fought Johnson in October of 2019 at ONE: Century Part I, losing by a three-round unanimous decision.

As for the Filipino stalwart, fans won't have to wait long to witness Kingad return to action as he heads back to the Circle soon.
